Aufgaben
We seek an experienced and highly motivated researcher (m/f/d) with a demonstrated expertise in parasitoid wasp systematics. The successful candidate is motivated to study and test a number of hypotheses of ovipositor evolution playing a key role in parasitoid wasp evolution and diversification by focusing on selected families of Chalcidoidea as model groups. The study of unique fossil samples from the SMNS collection will be part of this project.
The findings of this project are destined to be published in at least 3 to 4 peer-reviewed journals within the next three years. Moreover, the candidate should be able to offer methodological support and guidance to other project-members.
Qualifikation
• a doctoral/PhD degree in biology or related discipline with a strong focus on systematic entomology
• taxonomic expertise in parasitoid Hymenoptera, ideally in Chalcidoidea
• a record of publications in renowned international journals
• experience and methodological competence in molecular lab work and ideally also in morphological techniques
• proven experience in working with international collaboration partners
• the ability to work both independently and in a team
